It’s not the way most people would like to kick off the New Year. Approximately one hour into 2021, the staff at a convenience store on the 1600 block of Princess Ave reported a vehicle struck the store and drove away.

According to a BPS report, the vehicle had lost control on Rosser Ave, struck a building, and then spun around and slammed into the convenience store. Brandon Police Service officers arrived at the scene where the truck slammed into the store only to find the front license plate which came off of the vehicle. BPS officers tracked down the truck at a residence on Brandon’s north hill.

A 38-year-old man admitted to being the driver and was arrested for impaired driving. He provided breath samples over twice the legal limit. He has a January court date to face several charges.
